Presenting the PBF Fall 2024 Artists-in-Residence

Winchester, Virginia – June 20, 2024

The Peter Bullough Foundation (PBF) is pleased to share its upcoming Fall 2024 artists in residence, its 11th season of residents since 2021. This season’s program continues the Foundation’s mission to support emerging artists through interdisciplinary residencies and creative opportunities for the community. Throughout the fall season, the PBF will announce workshops, lectures, and events open to the public.

In August, the residency welcomes Carmen Perry from Philadelphia, PA, known for her evocative music and reflective songwriting as a solo artist and with her band, Remember Sports. Joining her is Shaunie Berry of Denver, CO, a multimedia artist celebrated for her vibrant portraits and advocacy through art. Rounding out the August cohort is Jason Lord, originally from Vermont and with a recent MFA from UNC-Greensboro, an interdisciplinary artist whose work delves into systems, language, and ritual, reflecting a deep curiosity and experimental approach to art-making.

September brings a diverse group of artists to Winchester. Shlagha Borah, originally from Assam, India, joins the residency with a rich background in poetry and editorial work, promoting mental health accessibility through her initiatives. Polina Vee, a textile artist from Russia, now based in the US, explores themes of identity and cultural fusion through her intricate textile sculptures and installations. Also joining in September is Drew Spielvogel from State College, PA, whose paintings and visual art explore queer identity and personal narratives, and who has an upcoming show in Vancouver, Canada.

In October, the residency hosts Dave Kube, a photo-based artist whose immersive installations challenge perspectives on queer theory and identity, with exhibitions in major cities across the US. Elan Schwartz from Cincinnati, OH, brings an interdisciplinary practice centered on vulnerability and personal growth, exploring art's transformative power through various media. Completing the October cohort is Iain Wall, an artist based in Brooklyn whose interdisciplinary practice merges printmaking, sculpture, and narrative writing, reflecting on heritage and objecthood in contemporary contexts.

Each artist brings a unique perspective and set of skills to the Peter Bullough Foundation's residency, embodying the Foundation's commitment to fostering creativity and supporting the arts.
