Delicious Poems: Poetry and Food

In this workshop, with poet and artist-in-residence Shlagha Borah, we will examine the cross-cultural significance of food, sharing community meals, ancestry and the history of colonization, and how our favorite dishes came to be. Food is a tangible historical object, and we will dive deeper into how poets use food as metaphor or conceit in their work. We will discuss poems by Li-Young Lee, Naomi Shihab Nye, Gabrielle Calvocoressi, and others followed by generative writing prompts. Light refreshments will be provided.
