Art of the Opening Line: A Fiction Workshop

Having trouble writing that crucial opening sentence for your latest work? Join us on Monday, March 31 for a workshop with writer-in-residence CC Molaison centered around the first sentence of fictional works. First, we'll begin with a discussion of each participants' favorite opening line of a story or novel. We'll discuss what makes an opening line 'work' along with an analysis of first sentences, exploring stories from different places and time periods. Finally, participants will read a first sentence from their own work-in-progress with the optional opportunity to workshop them with others. While this workshop is geared toward fiction, non-fiction authors  and memoirists are welcome! Light refreshments will be served.
